From Mandalay, you’ll hit the road towards Amarapura, the “City of Immortality”. First, visit a silk weaving workshop, then stop by Maha Gandhayon Monastery, home to more than 1,000 young monks dedicated to strict study and discipline. Take a strolling on the U Bein Bridge, the world’s longest teakwood bridge spanning 1.2km across the Taungthaman Lake, you'll have chance to meet locals and mingle with them. Afternoon, boat trip to visit Inwa (Ava), located on an island between Ayeyarwaddy and Myitnge Rivers. A local ferry will take you to the island where horse cart and driver awaits to take you on a trip inside the ancient city walls to visit Nanmyint Watch Tower, Maha Aung Mye Bonzan (well known as Me Nu Oak-Kyaung or Brick Monastery), Bargaya Monastery renowned for its elaborate woodcarvings, Lacquer ware workshop, Yadana Hsimi Pagoda and Inwa Bridge spanning the Ayeyarwaddy River. Then, head to picturesque Sagaing Hill, regarded by many as the living centre of Buddhist faith in modern day Myanmar where over 600 monasteries for monks and nuns are located for Buddhist studies and mediation. Visit to U Min Thonze (or Thirty Caves Pagoda), home of many Buddha images in a shaped colonnade and the impressive Soon Oo Pon Nya Shin Pagoda. After a day of nonstop new sights, enjoy sunset from top of Sagaing Hill. Return to hotel and overnight in Mandalay.
