Dong Hoi

Drive north to Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park and take a boat trip on the Son River from a critical point of the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail to the Phong Nha Cave. About 300 caves have been counted in this area so far. This proves the significance of this karsts cave system of which Phong Nha Cave, known as being among the longest and most beautiful karsts caves in the world, has been listed by UNESCO as a world natural heritage site. The boat will take you as far inside the wet cave to the entrance of Bi Ky chamber and then return to visit the “Fairy Lady” and “Royal Palace” cave.

Back at the pier, you will have lunch at a local restaurant and then drive about 25 km to visit Thien Duong Cave (Paradise Cave), another huge and beautiful cave just opened to the public.

Return to Dong Hoi City. Check-in at the hotel and have time at leisure.

Sightseeing the former Demilitarised Zone (DMZ) is revisiting an important chapter of Vietnam’s history. As the dividing line between North and South Vietnam, the area along the Ben Hai River saw some of the heaviest fighting of the entire war. The tour will take you to visit to Ben Hai River; Exploring the DMZ; Ho Chi Minh Trail and Dakrong Bridge; Khe Sanh Combat Base and The Rockpile

Hue

Pick up at your hotel in Dong Hoi and transfer to railway station to Hue.

The Vietnamese railway system is an ageing but pretty dependable service, and offers a relaxing way to get around the nation. Travelling in an air-con sleeping berth sure beats a hairy overnight bus journey along Hwy 1. And of course, there’s some spectacular scenery to lap up too.
